A calm identity for a restorative Zanzibar sanctuary
Maua Wellness is designed as a place to slow down, reconnect, and make space for presence. Rooted in nature, sensory rituals, and thoughtful craftsmanship, the experience offers guests a calm escape.
The identity follows the same philosophy: warm, grounded, and quietly confident. Rather than competing with the wellness experience, every element was designed to become a natural part of it - creating a feeling of balance, care, and calm from the first interaction.
Step 1: Creating a symbolic logo
At the center of the identity is a soft, symbolic logo inspired by the carved doors of Zanzibar’s Stone Town and the balanced form of a lotus.
Simplified geometry and gentle symmetry give the mark a calm, meditative character while making it distinctive enough to become Maua’s own recognizable signature.
The logo was designed to work naturally across different scales and materials - from subtle amenity details and packaging to signage and larger spatial applications.
Step 2: Building the Maua visual identity
The wider identity is built around calm typography, natural tones, generous spacing, and a minimal visual language.
Every element was kept intentionally restrained, allowing materials, textures, and the surrounding environment to become part of the brand experience. The result feels refined without becoming formal, and premium without losing its warmth.
Together, the logo, typography, colors, and layouts create a consistent visual system that reflects the feeling at the heart of Maua: balance, restoration, and quiet confidence.
Step 3: Extending the identity into physical touchpoints
The Maua identity continues across the many details guests interact with throughout the wellness experience.
Print materials, amenity packaging, in-room details, uniforms, signage, and other branded elements all follow the same calm and considered approach. Minimal layouts and tactile finishes help each application feel connected to the environment rather than simply branded.
This consistency allows the identity to support the entire wellness journey - from arrival and treatment to the quieter moments before and after.
